3:20 PM NeW Space, The University of Newcastle: Developing Contemporary Learning Spaces to Maximise Collaboration and Optimise the Use of Technology

NeW Space is a $95 million landmark education precinct under development by the University of Newcastle in the heart of Newcastle’s CBD. The precinct will host a range of Universitysupported activities including: business and law programs; digital library services and information commons; collaborative learning, research spaces and social learning spaces. Developed as a technology-rich and engaging demonstrator site, NeW Space will provide a unique platform for staff to develop and test innovative ideas to deliver a ‘next generation’ University experience for students. The project encompassed 14,000 sqm with a dedicated ‘gathering’ space and campus green to the lower levels for University and community use, as well as a series of ‘urban rooms’ connecting the inhabitants to key Newcastle landmarks.
